Liverpool starlet Stefan Bajcetic 'likely' to leave Anfield this summer

Liverpool starlet Stefan Bajcetic is amongst a host of youngsters linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer either permanently or on loan.

Bajcetic, who burst onto the scene under Jurgen Klopp in the 2022/23 campaign, looked to be a mainstay in Liverpool's midfield for years to come, but after an injury-stricken last twelve months, the Spaniard is likely to leave Liverpool this summer.

The 19 year-old was a bright spark during a dull season in Klopp's penultimate campaign at Anfield and looked to be the one who would ultimatley be Fabinho's successor.

Bajcetic's absence has contributed to Liverpool's issues in the holding midfield role with multiple top targets turning down The Reds in recent summers.

Martin Zubimendi opted to stay at his boyhood club Real Sociedad rather than buying into Arne Slot's project this summer, while Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia both chose Chelsea over the Anfield side 12 months ago.

Liverpool fans raise squad depth concerns

Liverpool U21's coach Barry Lewtas was without Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, James McConnell, Calum Scanlon, Marcelo Pitaluga as well as Bajcetic for their 4-0 loss to PSV Eindhoven earlier this week, with rumours that they could be on the way out of the club either on loan or permanently before next Friday's transfer deadline.

Bobby Clark, Fabio Carvalho, Harvey Blair and Sepp van den Berg have all already departed Liverpool permanently with more outgoings expected and the likelihood of new signings before next week being very slim.

Bajcetic leaving wouldn't make much sense considering Liverpool now aren't willing to strengthen the 'number six' position with anyone after missing out on their primary target in Zubimendi.

The youngster's potential departure will only make that position even weaker in terms of depth, especially with Slot's system utilising two number six's in a double pivot.

The Reds' reasoning to letting Bajcetic leaving this summer could potentially have something to do with Trey Nyoni impressing during pre-season and being a regular in first-team training.
