Liverpool appear to have decided the future of at least one star this month. Now there are only about five more to go.

Liverpool have had to decide a lot already this month and we're barely into January. In fact, the Reds were handling transfer offers before the window even opened.

Real Madrid bid for Trent Alexander-Arnold in an attempt to sign the right-back ahead of his contract expiring at the end of the season. Liverpool rejected that, however.

Then it was onto more offers. Two came in for Ben Doak, with Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town both bidding for the youngster. Again, Liverpool rejected them.

They did actually accept one offer, though - Fluminense are signing Marcelo Pitaluga. But then it was back to rejections as Palace tried again to sign Doak.

So while the futures of many are up in the air (we haven't even mentioned Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk but yes, they're still set to leave as things stand) Liverpool appear to have at least decided where one star is playing.

Liverpool appear to confirm Stefan Bajcetic plan

There's been a lot of confusion around Stefan Bajcetic and what Liverpool plan to do with him. Of course, the initial plan of having him thrive under Pep Lijnders at Red Bull Salzburg is in tatters.

Lijnders has been sacked and it appears Bajcetic is very unhappy there. That's the line elsewhere, certainly, and he deleted all references to the Austrian club from Instagram.

Liverpool have now been looking to move him elsewhere, preferably to somewhere Bajcetic is comfortable. After all, he needs to be playing and happy if he's to develop properly.

Fabrizio Romano is one of those claiming there have been talks with Real Betis over a loan for the second half of the season. But then a subsequent report in the Daily Mail suggested that while there had been talks, Liverpool plan to keep Bajcetic at Salzburg.

That, for us, is a controversial plan. It's one that risks Bajcetic being stuck somewhere that isn't working for him, under a manager Liverpool didn't agree to give him to in the first place.

Then came Monday night. Salzburg had a friendly against Bayern Munich and Bajcetic was brought on at half-time.

The Spaniard was a surprise addition, from our point of view, given Liverpool are supposedly in talks with Betis. Bringing him on would be a risk if those talks are as advanced as Romano says.

And so, surely, this lends itself to the Mail's report being correct? Well, that's what we thought but Bajcetic was hooked after 30 minutes. Either Salzburg weren't happy with him (and they did lose 6-0) or this really was meant to be a risk-free runout.

That would suggest a move elsewhere could be on the cards. In other words, Bajcetic's future appears to be in more doubt than ever.
