Liverpool star pushes Arne Slot for RECALL after extending INCREDIBLE record
It’s been a great start to life at Liverpool for new boss Arne Slot, but it hasn’t gone smoothly for one of his squad.
Jarell Quansah started the last four matches of the Jurgen Klopp era, after breaking into the first team last season following a loan spell at Bristol Rovers.

The 21-year-old has appeared for England in every age group from the under 16s upwards, then got his first call-up to the senior squad when Gareth Southgate named his provisional squad for Euro 2024.
Quansah was named on the bench for England’s warm-up friendlies for the tournament, at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland, but didn’t get on for his debut, and then didn’t make the cut when Southgate reduced the squad to 26 players for the Euros.
Staking his claim
Tipped for a big future, the centre-back received a confidence boost when he was named in Liverpool’s starting line-up for the opening game of the Premier League season at Ipswich Town, for Arne Slot’s first game in charge.
But with the match goalless at the interval, Quansah was substituted at half-time - after Liverpool went on to win 2-0, Ibrahima Konate was preferred in the starting line-up for victories over Brentford and Manchester United.
Quansah was not named in Lee Carsley’s first squad as interim manager of the England senior side, instead returning to the under 21s, who he’d previously represented under Carsley on four occasions last season, in qualifying for the 2025 UEFA U21 Championship.
All of those matches were resounding victories - 9-1 over Serbia, 3-0 in the return match against the same opposition, 3-0 against Northern Ireland, then 7-0 against Luxembourg. Indeed, as Quansah only came on as a substitute against Serbia, he was yet to concede a goal while on the pitch for the under 21s.
The defender has now extended that record, on his fifth appearance for the under 21s, which ended with a 0-0 draw in Northern Ireland. Not only that, but he was named man of the match - a reminder of his talents, as he hopes to persuade Slot to hand him a recall to the starting line-up at Anfield.
In contrast, Konate suffered a 3-1 defeat to Italy while lining up for France's senior side, before being given brutal ratings by the French media.
