Liverpool star now likely to STAY as Real Madrid move on
Real Madrid have been a scourge to Liverpool over the years but one star doesn’t look like he’s heading there from Anfield.
The Reds have lost multiple Champions League finals in the last decade against the Spanish giants.

Meanwhile Real Madrid has also been a thorn in the side of Liverpool taking some of the best players to play for the Reds in the 1990s and 2000s to the Spanish captain.
From Steve McManaman to Michael Owen, Xabi Alonso and now Trent Alexander-Arnold, who looks almost destined to join Real upon the expiry of his contract.
All of those moves cut deep for Liverpool fans. The quartet were fan favourites at Anfield and Liverpool never wanted to see them go.

But while Alexander-Arnold may be on the move, there is one Liverpool target for Real who now looks unlikely to join then with the Spanish side having now entered talks to extend one of their key players instead.
Why Real Madrid are moving on from Ibrahima Konate
It’s not just Alexander-Arnold who has been on Real Madrid’s radar from Liverpool’s squad recently.
Ibrahima Konate has also been linked with a move to Real, and with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, this was definitely a possibility.
However, Konate is now way more likely to stay at Liverpool and extend his current deal with Real Madrid deciding to extend the contract of one of their top defenders.
According to a report by Sky Sports journalist Kerry Hau, Real Madrid have entered contract talks with Antonio Rudiger.
Real Madrid are so keen to keep Rudiger they are willing to make an exception.
While the club normally doesn’t offer two or three year deals to players in their thirties, the Spanish side are willing to do this in order to keep Rudiger.
Based on Real’s determination to keep Rudiger it certainly feels like they’ve moved on from their Konate pursuit.
This will be received very positively at Liverpool. If Real Madrid do not pursue Konate he is way more likely to now stay at the club and sign a contract extension.
Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that PSG are also admirers of Konate of course.
So, it’s still not 100% he stays. But there are way more incentives right now to stay in Liverpool and play in the Premier League than to move to PSG, even for a Paris native.
The Premier League is the best league in the world and Liverpool will continue to be one of the favourites for the Champions League.
Swapping the Reds for Real can be understood as they are one of the few teams who can offer the same as Liverpool can and more.

But PSG are not one of those teams and therefore Liverpool are now in poor position to keep Konate.
