Andy Robertson has a history with David Coote. It's one that's come to light after the referee's alleged comments about Liverpool.

A video featuring a man who appears to be Premier League referee David Coote has leaked, with some disparaging remarks about both Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. Coote has been suspended by the league pending an investigation into the video.

The Mirror reports that Coote has admitted that it's him in the video. He initially denied it was him - but now he simply claims he doesn't remember making said video.

Now, there's a lot of history between Coote and Liverpool. The former has made plenty of decisions that went against the Reds - some that were truly shocking.

Andy Robertson's rant

What we can say for certain is that Liverpool aren't fans of Coote, regardless of what he thinks of them. That has been made abundantly clear over the years.

But Jurgen Klopp isn't the only one to have a pop. In fact, Andy Robertson had a pop at Coote to his face in a tirade back in 2020.

Liverpool had just drawn with Burnley at Anfield, shortly after clinching the Premier League title. The Reds weren't remotely happy with the refereeing performance, though.

It led to Robertson confronting Coote after the final whistle and because there were no fans in the stadium, microphones picked up exactly what he said.

“How’s that not a penalty [at the end] is a disgrace," he says. "How the f*** is that not a penalty? You didn’t see f****** anything.

"You didn’t see anything all game apart from the f****** booking in the last minute. F*** me. What’s the point in having you in the middle? What’s the point in having you? F*** me. Honestly.”

It certainly won't have endeared Liverpool to Coote but then, the Reds would argue that he was already making decisions that cost them.
