Liverpool 'slap' £15 million price tag on 21-year-old talent

Liverpool have named their price for right-back Neco Williams who they will allow to leave this summer transfer window.

According to the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Reds have 'slapped' a £15 million price tag on Williams as they prepare for an influx of interest in the right-back this summer.

The Echo say that Williams' stock has risen considerably following an impressive loan spell at Fulham. He helped the club (15 appearances) win the Championship title and seal promotion to the Premier League.

Liverpool have already received a number of calls regarding Williams' future, with Fulham among those looking to seal a permanent transfer after their manager, Marco Silva, has previously expressed his admiration for the Welsh international.

Silva has been very impressed with Williams ever since he joined the London-based club. The former Everton manager said that he has adapted to life at Fulham really well.

“His intensity and the way he supported our offensive game has been fantastic. He is a young lad who always gives his best," Silva said, as quoted by the club's official website and Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

“I am pleased with the way he has adapted at our football club.”

The 22-year-old right-back also spoke about his successful loan at Fulham, saying it's been a "great", but he knows he'll be returning to Liverpool this summer.

"It’s been a great loan. But I’ll be going back to Liverpool in the summer, feeling like a more mature player and definitely an improved player," Williams told the Independent, as quoted by AW on Twitter.

“Right now, I just want to play football week in and week out. I want to play as much as possible and gain as much experience as possible, and so far it has definitely helped me.

"I’ve improved as a player and getting promoted is a nice one to put on the CV. I’ve gone from starting a Champions League game against AC Milan and beating them 2-1 to playing Barnsley.

“So I have gained quite a lot of valuable and varied experience at such a young age. I want to be a Premier League player. For me, I think it’s the best and the toughest league in the world.

“And you always want to be playing against the best players in the world.”

Whatever happens with Williams this summer, he definitely deserves first-team football. He is a quality right-back, but, he's never replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is arguably the best full-back in world football.
