Liverpool have been frustrated in their chase for Martin Zubimendi but the club are reportedly leading the race to sign A DIFFERENT midfielder. 

As the transfer window ramps up, Liverpool are expected to be active in the market. Liverpool lost out on Martin Zubimendi, but Arne Slot is still reportedly viewing the no.6 position are a priority investment.

There is an expectation around the club that there will be more arrivals to come. Giorgi Mamardashvili has been targeted and Liverpool have looked at centre-back and wide-attacking options as well.

But it seems they could even look to bring in another midfielder this summer.

Liverpool's Koopmeiners chase

Another midfielder Liverpool have reportedly targeted this summer is Teun Koopmeiners. The Atalanta player won the Europa League last season, and he is in high demand.

Juventus are keen in the Dutch international according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport's latest newspaper edition. However, the report claims that there is currently a gap in his valuation between Atalanta and Juventus.

The Italian giants are only willing to spend £42.9m[€50m] on Koopmeiners. However, Atalanta have demanded at least £51.5m[€60m].

The report claims that this has led to Liverpool leading the chase for Koopmeiners' signature with the Reds still keen on his services.

Whether a move is made remains to be seen. It's a fact that Arne Slot is an admirer of Koopmeiners and worked with him at AZ Alkmaar in the past.

Anfield Watch understands that Koopmeiners is also admired by the club's scouts. But whether that will be enough for Liverpool to put a bid in for his services is moot.
