There's a new Philippe Coutinho at Anfield and he's set to be unleashed.
Remembering the Brazilian in his heyday harkens back to simpler times. Coutinho at his best was probably the beginning of Jurgen Klopp's golden era.

It's just a shame it had to end prematurely with Coutinho setting his mind on a move to Barcelona.
His time at the Catalans didn't quite work out for him. But in the end, Coutinho did win the Champions League at Bayern Munich and become a very important player in that 2019/20 side.

It's that version of Coutinho that Liverpool have now unleashed at Anfield. Yesterday's game against Paris Saint Germain proved it, too.
Why Harvey Elliott is the NEW Coutinho
Back in the 2019/20 season, Coutinho started just 15 games for Bayern Munich and just five matches in the German side's run to the Champions League final.
He came off the bench a total of 16 times and was largely a super sub for Bayern. Famously, he netted twice and registered an assist against his parent club Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League in what was merely a 15 minute cameo.
Coutinho definitely made every moment count on the pitch that season and we are seeing Harvey Elliott doing the same at Liverpool.
His winner against Paris Saint Germain was his third goal in a row in three Champions League games. In all competitions so far this season he is averaging 0.88 goal contributions per 90 minutes - only Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo have averaged more out of the Liverpool players who have played 500+ minutes this season in all competitions.
These numbers are also very similar to Coutinho in that 2019/20 campaign with the Brazilian averaging 0.83 goal contributions per 90.
And while the conversation at the end of the season will be around Salah and some of the big game players like Gakpo. But if Liverpool are to be successful, players like Elliott are equally important.
Having squad players who can decide games and come in at the right times is fundamental to the success of any team.
