Liverpool set for pre-season clashes with fellow Premier League giants in United States

Liverpool are set to face Arsenal and rivals Manchester United in the United States during their 2024/25 pre-season preparations, according to The Athletic.  

The Reds travelled to Singapore last summer as part of their pre-season, playing high-scoring games against Leicester City and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool have a huge following in Asia and it was seen as a major commercial opportunity for the Reds. However, as they prepare for life without Jurgen Klopp in the dugout, The Athletic report Liverpool will travel to the United States ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Reds' next manager will enjoy friendly clashes with fellow Premier League giants Arsenal and Man Utd, the pair having played each other last summer in the United States.

A game that Erik ten Hag's side won 2-0, the MetLife Stadium was sold out for the meeting between the two clubs, with Liverpool likely to attract plenty of visitors themselves when they travel to North America.

Manchester City and Chelsea are also expected to play one another in the United States, although the exact dates and times of all pre-season fixtures are currently unknown.

Top Premier League clubs are hoping to cash in on the excitement in the build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Given Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group are American, the decision is hardly surprising, with the Reds having played in the United States before.

However, Liverpool haven't travelled to the country for pre-season since 2019, where they played Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting CP.
