While the team is on track to win the Premier League title, the mood around the club is a little bit sour.

Arne Slot was not expected to win anything this season, but after looking likely to retain the EFL Cup to win a double, the prospect of taking home just one trophy has left some fans frustrated.

The week from hell ensued prior to this international break, with Liverpool getting knocked out of the Champions League by PSG on penalties at Anfield, before the team then delivered a quite frankly embarrassing display against Newcastle at Wembley.

As such, the following two weeks is set to comprise of a lot of hot-takes regarding players futures and how significant this summer transfer window is going to be, especially if Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold end up leaving after their contracts expire.

However, there is still a lot to be positive about and while some of the players have delivered underwhelming performances in recent weeks, others have been shown they can be relied upon moving forward.

In amongst the team's dreadful efforts in the Carabao Cup final last Sunday was an impressive cameo from Federico Chiesa, who could be Liverpool's secret weapon as the team attempts to secure the club's 20th first-division league title.

Liverpool's unexpected hero for the No. 9 role

Chiesa has been almost written off as a failure since he joined the Reds for £15m last summer.

His first few months were hindered by injury niggles while getting up to speed with the physical and tactical demands of the team, but since December he has largely just been left to rot on the bench.

The only real outings we've seen him have in a Liverpool shirt have been in the domestic cups or when Slot has decided to really change the team around to give the starters some added rest.

As such, it bizarrely seems as though the only signing of Slot's tenure at the club is a player who he has already decided he doesn't fancy.

Of course, there is the difficulty of fitting him into the team when his preferred position is the same as Salah's on the right-wing, but that hasn't stopped Luis Diaz getting minutes when Cody Gakpo was played at left-wing - Slot adapted and used Diaz as a false nine centre-forward.

Most of the negativity surrounding the club is down to the lack of assistance that Salah is receiving in attack, because Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Diaz have all had incredible underwhelming seasons, so when Salah doesn't deliver, the team is often blunted in forward areas.

So why not switch it up a bit and utilise the players at your disposal who haven't disappointed you yet?

After all, despite playing just 398 minutes the season, Chiesa has two goals and an assist to his name, including the consolation effort against Newcastle at Wembley, which helped the club save face.

The 27-year-old has experience playing across the forward line and he is contracted until 2028, so why would you not make use of him and give him an opportunity to showcase what he can do?

All of the others have had their fair chance to deliver for the team and it is widely understood that some of them aren't good enough, so rather than continuously bang our heads against the wall, lets experiment and try something new.

The club only needs 16 points from the remaining 27 available in the Premier League, and while Diaz, Jota and Nunez have been below-par this season, they will eventually find a purple patch where they can make a difference.

Until then, however, the forward line should include Chiesa - he at least deserves a chance.
