Liverpool transfers: £100m Atalanta duo impress scouts in Champions League
Despite a frustrating drawing at home to Arsenal, two Atalanta players excelled in their Champions League opener and Liverpool could be eyeing a £100 milion swoop for the pair
Throughout the summer transfer window, Liverpool held firm on their desire not to risk buying players who wouldn’t fit perfectly into their current squad.

However, despite the club’s limited business, Richard Hughes’ opportunistic strategy was demonstrated through Federico Chiesa’s move at the end of the window.
While the highlight failure of Liverpool’s efforts was Martin Zubimendi’s snub, choosing to stay at his boyhood club Real Sociedad, the club’s scouts were busy at work, and although Atalanta held off any potential suitors this year, Liverpool are still yearning for extra recruitment.
Liverpool scouts interested in Atalanta duo
At the heart of Atalanta’s midfield is 25-year-old Ederson, who fits right into the bracket of midfielder Liverpool were eyeing through their Zubimendi pursuit.
Capable of playing a deep-lying holding role as well as the no8 position with freedom to roam the pitch, Ederson’s hybrid profile has attracted many suitors.
As per TBR Football, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle have all been keeping tabs on the Brazilian.
However, with Mohamed Salah’s future in doubt amidst contract negotiations and Luis Diaz’s rumoured departure links, Liverpool were also looking at a potential addition to their attacking unit.
And after completing a hattrick in the Europa League final last season, capping off a campaign where he notched 17 goals and 10 assists, Ademola Lookman was also on the Reds’ radar.
The former winger is more than capable across any of the three forward positions, a strength Liverpool identified in Chiesa earlier this summer.
But as uncertainty surrounds Salah and Diaz’s long-term future in the side, Liverpool will be keeping their scouts firmly focused on how the Atalanta pairing progresses this season.
Both are valued at around £50million and with a midfielder and a winger identified as areas for improvement within Arne Slot’s side, we may see the duo at Anfield in the near future.
