Liverpool risk missing out on Leeds' Tyler Adams too

Liverpool could be about to lose out on another potential target as the chase for Leeds United's Tyler Adams hots up.

The American midfielder, who was reportedly close to joining Chelsea before they switched their focus to beating Liverpool to the signings of both Brighton and Hove Albion's Moisés Caicedo and Southampton's Roméo Lavia, is seeking a move away from Elland Road and has been linked with multiple clubs who have had their heads turned by his seemingly very affordable release clause.

Despite having four years still remaining on his contract, Leeds' relegation from the Premier League means the 24-year-old can be signed for just £20 million.

According to Sky Sports reports, negotiations with Chelsea fell through in the final stages - even after undergoing a medical - and now AFC Bournemouth have emerged as a contender willing to meet this release clause.

Now, talks between the south coast club and Adams and his representatives are under way, says 90min.

Reds looking at the situation

Having missed out on Caicedo and Lavia, Liverpool are naturally looking at a number of alternatives, including Adams.

Having joined Leeds from RB Leipzig just a year ago, Adams made a notable impact despite the Yorkshire side's relegation, particularly defensively. He ranks highly across a number of vital statistics, including in tackles and blocks.

During 2022/23, Adams recorded 89 tackles in the Premier League, ranking among the highest in the division.

However, Liverpool's interest seems to be in its early stages, as they have not yet submitted an official offer. And with Bournemouth already prepared to meet the release clause, the Reds might need to act swiftly to secure Adams' services - or risk losing out on yet another central midfielder.
