Liverpool reject transfer bids for Nathaniel Phillips
Liverpool have fielded two transfer bids for defender Nathaniel Phillips so far this January transfer window, amid a growing expectancy within the club that he is going to be leaving Merseyside in the near future.
The defender shot to prominence last season with a number of good displays during a period where the Reds had very little in the way of options in the middle of defence.
Indeed, he would have hoped to have built on that this season but chances for first-team action have been limited, and that has sparked speculation about his future.
That said, the Liverpool Echo has revealed that the Reds have received two bids for him, which they have rejected both times, and that they are looking for around £15m before he can do.
The club, though, does think it could be likely he leaves in the final week or so of the market.
Anfield Watch Verdict
Phillips deserves a shot at playing somewhere regularly.
Liverpool obviously want to get a fee for him that they feel is fair and we'll just have to wait and see if a good enough offer comes in.
You can't begrudge Phillips getting a move, though, and we'll have to see if that is what happens.
