Liverpool are reportedly planning to open talks with vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold over a new contract.

The club initially thought they would reach an agreement when holding initial talks last autumn, but failed to strike a deal.

However, according to Football Insider, Liverpool are ready to reopen talks to extend the 25-year-old's contract - something they are confident they can achieve, with Alexander-Arnold said to be fully committed to the club.

Alexander-Arnold is reported to have already been offered terms in the region of £200,000-per-week, which would make him one of the club's top earners.

And with his current deal expiring in 2025, Liverpool are determined to tie down their star man as soon as possible.

The club's desire to keep hold of their top talents goes beyond Alexander-Arnold, with speculation also around the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Many are questioning where their futures lie following the announced departure of Jurgen Klopp, with Liverpool now looking set to undergo a major transformation under whichever new manager comes in.

Xabi Alonso is currently the front-runner to take Klopp's seat in the Liverpool dugout, but it must be said that Alonso's tactics vary greatly to the ones that have been employed by the German boss.

As such, there could be a lot of activity in the transfer window this summer as the club adjusts to life post-Klopp.

Nevertheless, Alexander-Arnold is heavily expected to stick with the club through this transition - something which could be confirmed by a contract extension.
