According to Caughtoffside, Liverpool have launched a formal offer to sign England international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

As cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, British agent Haydn Dodge claims it's known within footballing circles that Liverpool have tabled a bid worth nearly £100m for the 19-year-old amid interest from Real Madrid, Manchester City and a host of other European giants.

Bellingham is reportedly viewed as a transformative singing by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who believes the all-action midfielder could add some much-needed quality to his options in the centre of the park. If reports are to be believed, Liverpool have made an early move to sign the former Birmingham City midfielder as they aim to fend off interest from other clubs this summer.

Bellingham is a key player for club and country and recently turned out for England in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, with Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson lavishing praise on the young midfielder. As cited by Goal, Henderson said it would be 'amazing' if the Reds managed to pull off his signing.

"Listen, I just want him to be the best player he can be. Of course, if it ended up being Liverpool that would be amazing. But it’s got to be right for him and it’s going to be every club you can think of that will want him.

"He has to think about himself and make sure he makes the right decision for his career. But there’s going to be one lucky club that will end up getting him, whether that is now or in a year or two, it will be a lucky club.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

The source isn't the most reliable one on the planet so we obviously have to take this with a pinch of salt, but it would be a massive statement of intent if Liverpool have indeed launched a stunning early bid for Bellingham.

The Reds' interest in him is the worst-kept secret in world football and the club have chased him for nearly two years now, so Reds fans across the world would be absolutely fuming if he were to join another team this summer. Liverpool need to do everything they can to get this transfer over the line, even if it means they pay over the odds and shatter the Premier League record in the process.
