Liverpool are interested in signing Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka, according to the Daily Mail, as cited by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

The report states that the Reds and Manchester City have earmarked the 20-year-old as a future target.

Saka is contracted until the summer of 2024, which means that a free transfer is off the table for a couple of years.

Transfermarkt value the England international at £58.50 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Saka is a top talent. The forward found the back of the net 12 times and registered seven assists in 43 appearances for Arsenal's first-team last season.

Former Gunners striker Ian Wright is certainly liking how Saka is developing.

As quoted by Football London, he told ITV the following back in July 2021: “We’re talking about someone that joined Arsenal’s academy at age 7.

"He’s progressed through, he’s always been somebody that’s played at a higher level. He’s played for England since he was 16, he’s played at every level.

“He’s not just arrived here, he’s somebody that was destined to do what he’s doing right now.

“That’s why everyone at Arsenal knows what he’s capable of, and we’re seeing it right now.”

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool making a move for Saka in the near future.

However, we would be surprised if Arsenal sold Saka to a direct rival. Liverpool are already a better side than the Gunners.

Last season, Jurgen Klopp's side finished in second-place in the Premier League table. Arsenal on the other hand didn't even secure a top-four finish.

We doubt that the Gunners would want to help Liverpool. But, only time will tell if the Reds and Saka are to cross paths. The summer transfer window should be very interesting.

Klopp has an eye for talent, so we are expecting him to sign a decent player or two in the coming months.
