The Reds hold a 'genuine interest' in Leeds United winger Raphinha, according to The Athletic, as cited by Liverpool FC News on Twitter.

The report makes it clear that the arrival of Luis Diaz from Porto has not put Liverpool off the idea of making a move for the Brazil international.

Liverpool have been linked to Raphinha for quite some time. The 25-year-old is contracted until June 2024.

Transfermarkt value Raphinha at €40 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Raphinha is a top talent. The winger has found the back of the net 14 times and registered 11 assists in 51 appearances for Leeds United.

Footage of Raphinha highlights that he is a very skillful player. He is the type of footballer that you would pay to watch.

Earlier this year, pundit Garth Crooks likened the 25-year-old to two legends of the game.

"There aren't many footballers I enjoy watching as much as I do Raphinha. He's a throwback to the Rivaldos and Ronaldinhos of yesteryear. The Brazilian's game is so elegant and delightful to watch," Crooks told BBC Sport.

Raphinha would certainly add some depth and quality to Liverpool's attack.

Therefore, we would not be against the Reds making a move for the winger in the near future. Yes, Liverpool do possess a lot of options in attack (Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz).

With that being the case, the signing of Raphinha is certainly not a necessity for the Reds.

But, we are a big believer than you can never have too many good players in your squad. Depth is brilliant to have in case of injuries and so forth.

Only time will tell if the aforementioned report regarding Liverpool's interest in Raphinha is true or not.
