Liverpool reportedly believe that Mohamed Salah will lower his wage demands

Liverpool believe that Mohamed Salah will sign a new deal with the club, according to Football Insider, as cited by The Anfield Buzz's Twitter account.

There has been plenty of talk regarding the winger's future recently. Salah's contract expires in the summer of 2023, which means that talks regarding a new deal are underway.

However, it has been reported that the Egyptian international believes that he deserves to be paid more than what Liverpool are currently offering him.

But, Football Insider has made it clear that the Reds are confident the Egyptian international will lower his wage demands (currently £500k) and sign a new deal.

Anfield Watch Verdict

The story from Football Insider is promising for Liverpool fans, but it is only speculation.

To be fair to Salah, he is entitled to ask the club for a reasonable pay rise.

If someone is performing to a high-class level, they should be paid accordingly.

Salah has scored 153 goals and registered 57 assists in 239 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

The Egyptian international is not slowing down, either. Salah, who is only 29 years of age, has found the back of the net 28 times in 36 appearances this season.

Back in October 2021, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp labelled the winger as the best player in the world.

As quoted by the Irish Independent, the German told BT Sport: "We all see it (how good Salah is). Who is better than him? We don't have to talk about what (Lionel) Messi and (Cristiano) Ronaldo have done for world football and their dominance. But right now, he is the best (player in the world)."

Therefore, hopefully the club can offer Salah a salary which is somewhat reflective of his performances.

The last thing that we would want to see is the 29-year-old and Liverpool part ways. As we have seen over the years, they are the perfect match.

Hopefully Salah remains at Anfield. But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
