Liverpool remain interested in 16-goal forward valued at €50m
Liverpool remain interested in signing Lille forward Jonathan David, according to Jeunes Footeux.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old in the past. However, nothing has eventuated as a result of those rumours.
But, Liverpool's interest in David has reportedly not wavered.
The Canada international, who is contracted until the summer of 2025, possesses a current market value of €50 million.
Anfield Watch Verdict
We would not be against Liverpool making a move for David. The forward certainly possesses plenty of potential.
David has scored 16 goals in 34 appearances for Lille this season. The Canada international has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.82 across the 2021-22 club campaign.
The aforementioned figures highlight that David would add quality and depth to Liverpool's attack.
The youngster has made it clear in the past that he would like to play in the Premier League.
David told the The Guardian the following back in April 2020: “I want to become one of the best strikers in the world. That’s my goal. The Premier League is the best in the world and most competitive so obviously that is somewhere I would love to play in the future.”
However, we would be surprised if the Reds were to sign a forward in the near future. The reality is, the club just signed Luis Diaz from Porto for an initial transfer fee of £37 million.
Therefore, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Diaz at his disposal.
We strongly believe that you can never have too many good players in your squad. But, we would be surprised if Liverpool were to make a move for David.
Unless one of the aforementioned players decided to leave the club, the signing of the Canada international is not a necessity for the Reds right now.
