Liverpool receive IMPROVED bid for star
Liverpool have got plenty of issues to resolve during this January transfer window.
There are contract issues to be sorted out with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. All three are now entitled to speak to potentially interested overseas clubs about pre-contract agreements with their terms expiring in 2025.

Real Madrid tested the club’s resolve with an enquiry over Alexander-Arnold last week and beyond that there has been nothing but silence.
Elsewhere Liverpool are facing bids for another player with Ben Doak in demand following a stunning start to the season. Doak, 19, has been in sensational form for Boro in the Championship this term, adding another assist to his record over the weekend versus Cardiff.
Last week Liverpool fended off bids from Crystal Palace and Ipswich with the two Premier League teams keen to recruit the Scottish winger.
Those bids were reckoned to be around the £15 million mark with Liverpool decision-makers said to value Doak at twice that.
Palace back at the table for Doak
And now comes a new report from journalist Alan Nixon which states that Palace are now back at the table. The Eagles are ready to pay £20m for Doak - still under the Reds’ valuation but closer to the asking price.
What Liverpool respond to the latest approach from Selhurst Park remains to be seen.
Elsewhere it’s been reported by Teesside Live that Liverpool will allow Boro to keep Doak until the end of the season if their valuation for a permanent deal isn’t met.
Boro have been fearful that Doak’s form would see him recalled either for a squad berth at Liverpool or else a loan at a club higher up the pyramid.
Liverpool insisted on a recall clause in Doak’s loan deal, something Boro were powerless to prevent given the level of interest in him last summer.
But it’s claimed that the Reds are happy with Doak’s progress with Boro this term and will not be seeking to move him to a different loan club this January.
Instead, they are only interested in a permanent deal while Arne Slot is reported to have no place in his squad for Doak either.
