Real Madrid want ANOTHER Liverpool defender

With Liverpool flying high at the top of the Premier League and having enjoyed a successful first half of the season in the Champions League, it’s no surprise that other clubs around Europe are enviously eyeing up their players.

Chief amongst these seem to be the twin powers of Spanish football, Real Madrid and Barcelona. We know that the Catalan club have long had interest in Luis Diaz and they remain convinced they will be able to stump up the cash for the Colombian, and need we say any more about Real Madrid’s Trent Alexander-Arnold overtures?

Now it seems as though Real Madrid are interested in luring yet another key figure in Liverpool’s back line to the Bernabeu.

Ibrahima Konate has been heavily relied upon by Arne Slot this season, as he has remained largely free of the serious injuries which have plagued his other seasons on Merseyside since his signing in the summer of 2021. From the moment he was introduced at the break in the Reds’ first game of the Premier League season against Ipswich, Konate has been in imperious form.

This has plainly not gone unnoticed, as Anfield Watch exclusively revealed Paris Saint-Germain are interested in bringing Konate back to France. But they are not alone it seems that as well as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid are also trying to sign the Frenchman from Liverpool.

In an interview with French television station TF1, Konate was asked directly about the links to Real Madrid, with his response translated in the post below:

Judging from the online reaction, some supporters have decided that such a non-committal answer means that Konate will almost certainly be leaving in a similar manner to that which it is speculated Trent Alexander-Arnold will, i.e on a free to Madrid.

However, looking at the other side of the argument, Konate was rather diplomatic in his response. Whilst he was by no means ruling out the potential transfer laid out to him in the question, there is the potential that this is just a ploy in order to speed up the contract talks with Liverpool that Konate is supposedly engaged in already.
