Liverpool transfer news: Reds to rival Man United for Michael Olise

Liverpool are ready to compete with Manchester United for Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise. The Reds have a plan in mind.

This comes from Football Transfers. They report that Liverpool are now 'at the table' for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Olise over the last few weeks but the sense is they're not alone. Liverpool also want the player and view him as their eventual successor to Mohamed Salah.

That is a big problem at the club, after all. Liverpool have no natural replacement for the Egyptian and will eventually need one - especially if talk of him heading to Saudi Arabia is in any way accurate.

Olise would be about as good as it gets when it comes to finding that replacement. But he certainly won't come cheap.

Palace won't want to sell anyway, particularly this month, but will face increasing pressure. Not to mention the fact that dual interest from Liverpool and United will only push the price up further.

At the end of the day, though, replacing Salah won't come cheap. That's just something Liverpool have to live with.

There's also talk that Liverpool want Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville. Would that be as an alternative to Olise? Or in addition to? Or perhaps merely as a backup to the Palace star.

The Reds do appear to be looking at their future on the right, though. Olise and Summerville would likely come at wildly different prices and certainly at different experience levels. Liverpool would almost certainly prefer Olise.

But United will fight them for him, making it a difficult one to do. Fans can likely rule out any possible January move, too.

Olise will be one to watch for the summer instead - and potentially a very exciting signing down the line for Liverpool.
