Liverpool are one of three of the Premier League's 'big six' that are reportedly ready to make a bid for Brentford defender Aaron Hickey.

Hickey has impressed for both club and country this season, and according to the Daily Mirror, the Bees full-back has attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

German giants Bayern Munich are also said to hold an interest in the Scotsman, who has been capped 11 times for his country.

Hickey started his career at Hearts, working his way through the ranks of the Edinburgh side before making an atypical switch to Bologna - becoming, at the time, a rare Scottish export in Serie A.

The youngster enjoyed a fantastic spell in Italy, sparking a trend which saw a handful young Scots make the move to Serie A, with the likes of Lewis Ferguson and Josh Doig since following suit.

Two years on from his Hearts departure, Brentford came calling with an £18m bid, bringing the then 20-year-old back to the British mainland.

And after one year of Premier League football, he has earned admirers from many of the division's big hitters.

However, Bees manager Thomas Frank will be unwilling to let his versatile full-back go, especially after Rico Henry's season-ending injury, and will reportedly hold out for around £50m before they consider opening discussions.
