Having trained at Chelsea's first team as a 15-year-old, Ngumoha has been recognised as one of the biggest talents in England.

But while he was a massive and landmark deal for Liverpool, Ngumoha was just following a year-long trend and tradition.

For the last few years now, Liverpool have always targeted the biggest talents at this age group from England and the rest of the United Kingdom.

Before Ngumoha, Liverpool signed Trey Nyoni. Before him, it was Ben Doak. Before Doak, it was Bobby Clark and before him it was Kaide Gordon.

The player who started this trend was Harvey Elliott, who was signed as a 16-year-old after becoming the youngest player to make an appearance in the Premier League at Fulham.

It's a trend that Richard Hughes is now looking to repeat this summer as well according to a report in Spain by signing a player who broke Elliott's record this season.

By now you will have guessed who we are talking about because he recently took to the field against Liverpool.

The player in question is Jeremy Monga, who became the second youngest player to make an appearance in the Premier League at 15 years, eight months and two days old.

Only Ethan Nwaneri has debuted at a younger age in the Premier League putting the duo ahead of Elliott, who is now the third youngest player to make his debut in the competition.

Monga's future remains uncertain at Leicester City with plenty of clubs eyeing his situation. According to Fichajes, Liverpool are now battling Manchester City for his signature with the Reds ready to agree a deal to bring him to Anfield.

Monga is a big talent. At 15 years old, he has one goal and four assists in five appearances for Leicester's U18 side. For the U21 team he has two goals and two assists in eight games.

Against Liverpool he looked lively when he came on and you can see the talent that he has.

Bringing him to the club would continue the Reds' strong philosophy of investing in young homegrown talent at such an early age, and continue a tradition that has gone on for several years now.

But Liverpool face stiff competition. Manchester City will also be an alluring destination for Monga.

So, it's all out in the open at this stage. Liverpool will definitely make their case and can only hope they get the same answer as Ngumoha gave them last summer when the young star had the same choice to make.
