Liverpool ready €60m move to sign INCREDIBLE Martin Zubimendi alternative

Richard Hughes is reportedly ready to make a €60m to secure the perfect Martin Zubimendi alternative for Liverpool.

The Reds were haunted by Zubimendi's rejection last summer. For two years now, the club have been left frustrated by their top holding midfielder targets turning them down.

Before Zubimendi, it was Moises Caicedo. Arne Slot has been able to overcome that by using Ryan Gravenberch in the position, which has worked wonders.

But Gravenberch cannot do everything. At times this season, he has been exhausted and looked rugged because of the amount of minutes he has been asked to play.

It's clear that long-term, Liverpool need to bring in another midfielder in order to provide cover and even competition for Gravenberch and it looks like that is what Hughes is planning to do as he eyes an exciting Brazilian midfielder.

Why Liverpool are ready to move for Ederson

According to Tutto Atalanta, Liverpool are one of the clubs 'waiting' for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

The report claims that Liverpool, Manchester United, Juventus and Atlético Madrid are all ready to make offers for him this summer with Atalanta looking to reach an agreement around €60m.

This would be a brilliant move for the Reds, if they can pull it off. Ederson is at the perfect age at 25-years-old and he's one of the best holding midfielders in European football at the moment.

He's been a stand-out performer in an Atalanta side that knocked Liverpool out of the Europa League last season and won the competition.

He is full of energy, capable of covering a lot of ground and he reads the game really well.

There is no question about it, Ederson would provide not just cover but competition to Gravenberch in that holding midfield role for Liverpool.

On paper, that would be the ideal situation. Slot having to pick from two elite options and being able to rotate accordingly.

But there are caveats with this deal. There's a lot of other priorities Hughes has to sort out this summer. Liverpool will be looking to overhaul the attack, they may even need replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah.

On top of that, they will want to reinforce the left-back and the centre-back departments as well.

Given all of that activity, it remains to be seen whether the Reds will have the financial ability to make a €60m move for Ederson.

But if they can get it done, it would be a brilliant move. He's the perfect alternative option to Zubimendi and Caicedo.
