Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk's futures are both uncertain while it looks like Trent Alexander-Arnold has already got a move organised for when his contract expires in June.

Exclusive: £41m centre-back is READY to join Liverpool

Meanwhile, some the other players that are guaranteed to remain will be pushed out because the squad needs freshening up.

Until the transfer window opens, we will have no idea who is safe and who isn't, although lots of positions are going to see new personnel in them next season.

Fans have already got their sights on Alexander Isak to replace Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, although that specific transfer link will require a lot of clever planning, with one of the main conditions being that Liverpool win the league this season.

The financial complexities of a deal for Isak

Newcastle will not want their Swedish talisman to leave Tyneside this summer, but it is understood that bids of over £100m are likely to prove tempting for a deal to be completed.

Speculation has already started around how Isak and Salah would work in the same team, on both a financial footing regarding wages and in terms of a tactical setup, given the pair make up two of the top three goal-scorers in the Premier League this season.

And while it entirely plausible that a deal could be reached, with the sales of Nunez and Jota helping to fund the outlay, Liverpool could help themselves by doing one key thing - winning the title.

The Reds are expected to get the job done over the next two months, as they need just 16 points from the 27 remaining, and the pull-factor of Isak joining the reigning champions is clear.

But in terms of building a transfer offer that Newcastle are likely to accept, the league title would make an enormous difference that people might perhaps overlook.

GiveMeSport is reporting that the deal could all come down to payment structure.

Their latest article on the transfer rumours said: "If clubs can negotiate a payment plan that breaks down the fee into manageable instalments, it could open the door to more suitors and potentially spark a bidding war".

But if the Reds win the league and receive the highest amount of Premier League prize money for coming first, then a lump sum could be sent to Newcastle which might make a deal more appealing.

According to Football365, Liverpool would earn £56.4m, without considering the amount the club is likely to receive from being selected for TV coverage.

So while 'Liverpool - Premier League Champions' might have a nice ring to in terms of convincing Isak that he should move, the money from winning the league might also be pivotal to securing a deal because the traditional payment structure could be bypassed if a down-payment can be made.

  1. Why would a large downpayment make a difference to the richest club in the world?
  2. Why, when the £73M loss from 2021-2022 is going off the books on 30 June, do you think NUFC would be tempted to sell their best player?
  3. Why would NUFC sell arguably Europe's best striker for just over £100M? In an age when every player is seemingly worth more than £50M (take 2 goal Tyler Dibling for example), how do you not think any asking price would be £175M+?
  4. NUFC just won its first trophy since 1969. Why do you think it is a selling club in 2025?
