Liverpool starting lineup to face Everton - predicted

Liverpool's face another tricky test in their title challenge this Wednesday evening when the Reds face Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Jurgen Klopp's side have surrendered their lead at the top of the table in recent weeks after some costly slip-ups, but they recovered with a much-needed 3-1 victory against Fulham on Sunday.

While not at their blistering best, a much-changed Liverpool XI picked up a crucial three points, lifting them to second in the table with five games to play.

The Reds still have some immensely challenging fixtures to come and the run-in continues with a trip across Stanley Park to face struggling Everton.

Liverpool may not have lost at Goodison Park since 2010, but they have drawn five of their last six visits, with a point simply not enough for Klopp's men midweek.

Here is how the Reds could line up for their Merseyside derby clash.

Liverpool should be able to field their first-choice back five for their trip to Goodison, with Alisson undoubtedly retaining his spot in between the sticks.

Virgil van Dijk is also a guaranteed starter as Liverpool search for a first league clean sheet since the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in early March and he should be partnered by Ibrahima Konate, who was rested at the weekend.

Andy Robertson has been in impressive form since his return from a minor injury following the March international break and should be handed another start against Everton.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was superb against the Cottagers on Sunday and netted a wonderful free kick to give Liverpool the lead. The right-back's creativity will be key against a stubborn Everton side.

Liverpool made several changes to their midfield trio on Sunday with Ryan Gravenberch netting his first Premier League goal after being handed a rare start against Fulham.

However, the Dutchman will have to drop back to the bench on Wednesday, with Alexis Mac Allister ready to return to the fold.

After a few tricky outings, Wataru Endo was back to his best against Fulham and will be a hugely important presence at the base of midfield against Everton.

The poor form of Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai means that Harvey Elliott, who grabbed himself an assist against Fulham, may be in line for another start.

FORWARDS

Liverpool's forward line looked a little more fluid at the weekend after some difficult matches, with Diogo Jota returning to the starting lineup and scoring an important third goal for the Reds. The Portuguese should be chosen to start once more at Goodison.

Cody Gakpo has been in good form lately but may have to accept a place on the bench midweek, with Luis Diaz taking residence back on his favoured left flank.

Darwin Nunez has done little to stake his claim for a starting place in recent weeks and nor has Mohamed Salah, but the Egyptian's impressive record against the Toffees could see Klopp restore him to the team.

LIVERPOOL PREDICTED STARTING XI VS EVERTON

(4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Jota, Diaz.
