Liverpool will lock horns with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United side on Sunday at St James Park in gameweek three of the new Premier League season.
The Reds have recorded four points in their opening two encounters and will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run when they face the Magpies this weekend in what is likely to be the toughest test of this nascent season.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Newcastle United – 4-3-3
GK: Alisson – Liverpool’s number one has proved his worth in both of Liverpool’s first two games producing numerous fine saves to ensure Liverpool remain unbeaten. Away to Newcastle, the Brazilian may be crucial to the Reds' chances of stopping the home side's attacking threat.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – After Jurgen Klopp declared Alexander-Arnold fit in his press conference on Friday, the Englishman will be aiming to get his first goal contribution of the season at St James’ Park.

CB: Joel Matip – The former Cameroon international seems most likely fill in for the potentially absent Konate on Sunday, though Joe Gomez could also be used. Whoever is selected will have the arduous role of covering the space out wide when Alexander-Arnold pushes into midfield.
CB: Virgil van Dijk – Liverpool’s newly-made captain will lead his side out on Sunday in the hope they return three points back to Anfield.
LB: Andy Robertson – Liverpool’s first choice left-back will meet his match in terms of energy when he faces Miguel Almiron in what is set to be an intriguing battle down the Reds’ left side.
CM: Wataru Endo – After coming off the bench in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth last week, Endo is in line for his first start in red, providing Jurgen Klopp with the specialist holding midfielder he has missed so far this season.
CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – After producing a man of the match display against Bournemouth, Szoboszlai has shown signs he can be an outstanding asset to Jurgen Klopp. A technically gifted footballer with energy in abundance.

CM: Alexis Mac Allister – After seeing his red card against Bournemouth get rescinded, a start for Endo will likely see Alexis Mac Allister move into a more advanced midfield role, while Liverpool could field an engine room entirely composed of summer signings.
LW: Luis Diaz – The Colombian has scored in both of Liverpool’s opening two games, cementing the left-wing position into his own. Diaz could become just the fourth Liverpool player to score in the opening three games of a Premier League season.
ST: Cody Gakpo – After playing the first two games of 2023/24 in midfield, Cody Gakpo could start at the spearhead of Liverpool’s attack ahead of Diogo Jota.
RW: Mohamed Salah – Liverpool’s Saudi-coveted superstar opened his account for the season last weekend after following up first on his missed penalty and will be looking to add to his tally of six Premier League goals against Newcastle.
