10. Michael Owen - 30 assists

Michael Owen is hailed as one of the greatest goalscorers of his generation, but the fact that he managed to record 31 Premier League assists for Liverpool proves that he was more than just a poacher.

The Englishman also got two in the UEFA Cup final win over Alaves in 2001, the same year he got his hands on the Ballon d'Or.

9. Robbie Fowler - 30 assists

Blessed with a glorious left peg, Fowler undoubtedly played the best football of his career for his boyhood club and was Liverpool's highest Premier League goalscorer until Mohamed Salah recently surpassed him.

He also finished his Anfield career with 30 assists, a creditable tally considering his main job was to put the ball in the back of the net.

8. Philippe Coutinho - 35 assists

Signed as a relatively unknown teenager from Inter in January 2013, Philippe Coutinho hit the ground running and endeared himself to the Liverpool faithful with his samba skills and long range strikes.

Hitting his stride by the 2017/18 season, who knows how many goal contributions Coutinho might have got for Liverpool had his head not been turned by the prospect of a move to Barcelona.

He also set up a certain fellow Brazilian's first ever Liverpool strike.

7. Jordan Henderson - 45 assists

From nearly being shipped off to Fulham as part of a swap deal to sign Clint Dempsey to becoming Liverpool's first Premier League-winning captain — who could've predicted Jordan Henderson's journey when he first joined the club from Sunderland in 2011?

Five of this 45 assists came during the 2019/20 Premier League-winning captain, after which he was awarded FWA Footballer of the Year.

6. Roberto Firmino - 50 assists

Bobby Firmino's outrageous technical ability combined with his penchant for flair made him one of the most unique players in world football in his prime. He's the highest-scoring Brazilian in Premier League history, but his unselfish nature also allowed the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to devastate opponents in front of goal.

Having joined the club under Brendan Rodgers as an attacking midfielder, Firmino's shift to a false 9 was pivotal for him and the club.

He hit a personal high of 10 league assists in 2016/17.

5. Andy Robertson - 53 assists

When Andy Robertson joined the club from relegated Hull City for an £8m fee, expectations were fairly muted. However, the Scotland captain will go down as one of the club's best ever bargain signings.

His boundless energy and pin-point crosses from deep have been a feature of Liverpool's heavy-mental footballer over the years.

In December 2022, he overtook Leighton Baines as the defender with the most assists in Premier League history.

4. Trent Alexander-Arnold - 54 assists

The boyhood Scouser has won it all at 24 and is already hailed as one of the greatest right-backs in Premier League history due to his passing range and set-piece prowess. Trent announced himself in some style with a terrific free-kick against Hoffenheim in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League qualifiers and hasn't looked back since, having won games single-handedly for Liverpool over the years and establishing himself as one of the game's finest passers.

He set the standard for league assists in a season with 13 in 2019/20, beating his own previous record of 12. He has time on his side to better it again.

Mohamed Salah's consistency since joining Liverpool has cemented his status as one of the greatest attackers of his generation. The Egyptian maestro is already the club's highest goalscorer in Premier League history and if he sticks around for a few more years, he could well top the assists chart as well.

While Liverpool suffered an underwhelming season in 2022/23, Salah still ended the campaign with 19 Premier League goals and 12 assists.

2. Steve McManaman - 58 assists

Homegrown talent Steve McManaman enjoyed a successful career nine-year spell at Anfield, where he established himself as one of the best midfielders of his generation before joining Real Madrid in 1999, after winning two major honours.

He got 12 league assists in the calendar year of 1996, including one in the famous 4-3 win over Newcastle.

1. Steven Gerrard - 92 assists

Who else but Captain Fantastic? The legendary midfielder is widely regarded as Liverpool's greatest player of the Premier League era and has 120 goals to his name in the competition, making him one of the highest-scoring midfielders in the league's history.

However, he's also one of the league's best ever assist makers and ranks eighth in the Premier League's all-time list for lay-ons.
