Loris Karius urged to seal Liverpool exit
John Achterberg has given an update on Loris Karius' future at Liverpool and has said that it would be best for all involved if a transfer exit could be sorted for the player before the end of the current transfer window.
The German goalkeeper's career at Liverpool is surely over, but there currently appears no interested parties in signing him, as his contract on Merseyside enters its final few months.
One way or another, though, it does sound as though 2022 will be the last year where he is on the books at Liverpool, and it just remains to be seen when he is going to leave.
Speaking to The Athletic, Achterberg gave the latest on Karius and said it needs to be sorted sooner rather than later for the good of everyone:
“It’s down to him, his agent & the club to find a solution, hopefully, there will be one this month. It doesn’t help anyone to sit for another six months without the feeling you are really fighting for something.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Karius' time at Liverpool has simply not gone to plan and it would make perfect sense for him to leave this month - but there needs to be a club interested in him.
He's been on loan at various sides between the Champions League final in 2018 and now but none of them have decided to keep him on past the duration of the initial agreement.
Clearly, he needs to be finding new employment but where that is going to be remains to be seen.
