Liverpool bosses are planning discussions around the future of Mohamed Salah over the next few days as the season ticks down to a close.

That is according to the latest report in Football Insider, which states that the talks will examine whether Salah will see out his Liverpool contract or not.

Salah, 31, is about to enter the last 12 months of his mammoth £350,000 per week contract and so far no agreement has been reached regarding a new deal.

There is a new regime in place at Liverpool with Richard Hughes - incoming sporting director - and FSG’s CEO of Football - Michael Edwards - officially taking up their roles on June 1.

High on the agenda is the future of Salah, as the Reds will not want to lose the Egyptian for free next summer when his contract expires.

A bid from Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia could be expected in the off-season with the Saudi Pro League giants trying and failing to sign Salah last summer with a record-breaking bid.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool’s stance has changed in the year since they turned away Al-Ittihad’s interest.

Salah has endured a difficult 2024, being injured in the Africa Cup of Nations group stages in January and suffering a relapse in February during a Premier League game against Brentford.

His goals have ebbed away, even if he remains the club’s top goalscorer this season, and there was a high-profile falling out with Jurgen Klopp on the sidelines as he waited to come as a substitute against West Ham.

Consequently questions have been raised about whether Salah will be kept around for another season or made available for transfer this summer.

It is an intriguing situation and according to the latest reports one that could be drawing to a conclusion very soon.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017, one of the emblems of the Jurgen Klopp era and arguably Michael Edwards’ best signing as sporting director

He has scored 211 goals for Liverpool, winning the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and EFL Cup and a host of individual honours.
