Slot's men now find themselves two points clear at the top of the table after 10 matches played.

Meanwhile, Guardiola and Arteta are left fending for answers to make excuses for their respective teams' disappointing defeats.

The former has resorted to some ridiculous claims that will be laughed off in Merseyside.

Pep Guardiola's ridiculous excuse for Man City defeat

Guardiola's side were defeated by an impressive and resurgent Bournemouth side who have secured their second big scalp of the season after also beating Arsenal last month.

Andoni Iraola, who was appointed by Richard Hughes back in the day, is quietly becoming one of the most impressive managers in the league.

But the attention was on Guardiola whose side fell to a defeat for the first time after 32 matches. The Manchester City boss was understandably disappointed but his excuse for the defeat was laughable, to say the least.

"We could not match the intensity of Bournemouth," Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"From the first minute we knew it. They have six or seven days [more] to prepare for the game than we had, we had less recovery from the trip from London.

"And we talk about that. We have to increase a little bit our duels in the positions."

Guardiola also lamented City's injury crisis.

"Kyle [Walker], 16 days didn't train with us until yesterday. Nathan [Ake] made an incredible effort, it's not just about that [injuries]."

Before the game Guardiola went as far as to describe Man City's injury crisis as an 'emergency' [BBC] which is a truly ridiculous claim.

Liverpool will laugh at Guardiola's excuses

It's true City have a few players injured. But it's also true that they are the club with one of the biggest depths in world football.

Even with a 'depleted' squad today, Guardiola had the likes of Jeremy Doku, Kevin de Bruyne and Savinho on the bench.

These are players Manchester City spent huge amounts of money to sign. Players who are a luxury to have.

Not to mention, City have some of the best academy talent in England, regularly winning the U21 and U18 Premier League - so the Spaniard can always call upon some of the incredible talent the club have assembled for him.

The fact that Guardiola is complaining about not being able to match Bournemouth's intensity and not having enough recovery time as well as bringing injuries into the mix is simply laughable.

Arne Slot didn't make those excuses when Liverpool lost to Nottingham Forest. he took it on the chin.

Even though the Reds had several key players who came back from South America and had very little recovery time before that game.

Right now Liverpool are missing several of their key players. From Alisson in goal to Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott. Now Ibrahima Konate could also be sidelined.

Yet Slot doesn't make those excuses in his press conferences. He gets on with the job. Unlike Arteta and Guardiola, who continue to complain.

But it's fine, Liverpool can comfortably laugh at the from above. It's nice being top of the Premier League. Long may it continue.
