Liverpool's path to the Champions League final
Liverpool started the season looking to make a statement in the Champions League, having been starved of the iconic European nights over the last 12 months with the club playing in UEFA's second-tier competition.
As such, the chance to earn automatic qualification into the knock-out phase of the tournament, by finishing in the top eight of the 'league phase' was a challenge that Arne Slot and the players were relishing.

Despite losing Eindhoven against PSV in the final fixture of the 'league phase', Liverpool had already confirmed their place in the last 16, bypassing the dreaded 'knock-out play-off round', by finishing at the top of the 36-team table.
Now that Liverpool have the Premier League title race all but wrapped up, sitting 15 points clear of Arsenal in second, who have a game in hand, the focus can change to the Champions League, adding further success to mark Slot's first season at the club.
As such, we've taken a look at the run-in that Liverpool are expected to come up against to reach the final for the 11th time.
Liverpool's path to Munich
UEFA made radical changes to the tournament for this season, expanding the group phase and adding in an extra play-off round.
To keep the competition fair, clubs were still placed into pots based on coefficient points, but a computer would draw teams' fixtures randomly for the 'league phase'.
Each team's final position in the league phase would then help dictate the path for the knock-out rounds.
Liverpool were then faced with the proposition of facing Benfica or Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16 and the latter was drawn out by the computer as the club's prospective opponents.
In the quarter-finals, the Reds could be up against Club Brugge or Aston Villa. Liverpool would face the prospective winners away from home in the first leg, with Anfield then hosting the second.
And then projecting even further, the Reds would face a clash against either Arsenal - who look dead-set to surpass PSV in the Last 16 - or one of Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.
A place in the final would then see Liverpool up against one of Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Lille or Barcelona.
