They have already done multiple campaigns together, including a promotion with the popular manga series ‘Blue Lock’ where the characters are illustrated wearing the Liverpool kit.

Furthermore, they have hosted their own podcast in collaboration with Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo amd also have a YouTube series called InspiRED where they have featured the personal stories of several Liverpool stars through inspiring videos illustrated in a Manga style.

Now, with the help of Kodansha, a gold-medal winning athlete has recently partnered up with the Reds leading to exciting new possibilities.

Liverpool secure World Champion Yuto Horigome

Yuto Horigome is a two-time Olympic Champion skateboarder who has also won the World Championships and the X Games three times.

His accolades are strong and he is an incredibly popular figure out in Japan. Horigome has now become an ambassador as part of Kodansha’s ‘Inspire Impossible’ stories, which works in collaboration with Liverpool.

Yuto visited the streets of Liverpool, including a visit to Anfield with his goal to connect with the heart of the local skate community at the Lost Art Skate Shop, a popular location on Merseyside.

This ‘signing’ from the Reds however takes on greater significance.

The Japanese boarder has over two million followers on Instagram. This opens up a whole new audience to the story and life of Liverpool, which could lead to a growing presence in his home country.

The work of Kodansha meanwhile continues to inspire the local community in Liverpool and beyond while also introducing the club to new audiences around the globe.
