Liverpool learn opponents in Europa League draw
Liverpool have been drawn into Group E alongside LASK, Union Saint-Gilloise and Toulouse for the 2023/24 Europa League group stage.
The draw for the Europa League groups was drawn on in Monaco on Friday.
As a Pot 1 side (due to their high UEFA coefficient) Liverpool avoided some of the trickier possible match ups, and were drawn with LASK (Austria) from Pot 2, Union Saint-Gilloise (Belgium) from Po 3 and Toulouse (France) from Pot 4.
The draw will likely be well received by Jurgen Klopp due to the lack of long-distance travel required for the mid-week away days. Liverpool avoided the likes of Qarabag (Azerbaijan) and Maccabi Haifa (Israel), which would have necessitated the longest flights of any of the potential opponents.
Meanwhile, fellow Premier League sides West Ham and Brighton were served much trickier looking draws.
David Moyes' side will face Olympiacos, Freibrg and TSC Backa Topola, while Roberto De Zerbi's team take on Ajax, Marseille and AEK Athens.
See UEFA's website for the full breakdown of all groups.
