After being released by Liverpool this summer Mateusz Musialowski has found a new club in Europe.

That is according to Lewis Bower who has revealed that the 20-year-old will be going to play in Cyprus. He will be joining Omonia Nicosia who finished in fifth place in the Cypriot top division last season earning them European qualification.

They have already played their first leg of the second round of qualifying in the Europa Conference League against Georgian side Torpedo Kutaisi.

The second leg is fast approaching so Musialowski probably won’t be involved as the signing may not be complete in time.

However with a nice lead to take into the second leg, the Polish U21 international could soon be showcasing his talents on the European stage.

BIG THINGS WERE EXPECTED FROM MUSIALOWSKI

Musialowski joined Liverpool back in 2020 even though he had trials with rivals Arsenal. Just a year later he signed a senior contract with the club.

He continued to shine in the youth sides with a video of him scoring a wonderful solo goal going viral.

The goal drew comparisons to Lionel Messi and the footballing great is someone Musialowski has been likened to throughout his young career. He even got the nickname ‘Polish Messi’ due to his technique.

However, he only managed to make his official Liverpool debut last season in the Europa League knockout rounds. He was brought on from the bench with 17 minutes to go when The Reds were 11-2 up against Sparta Prague on aggregate.

He did make some history for Liverpool as he was the first Polish outfield player to feature for the club. Many though thought he would achieve much more than just that.

Due to not pushing the senior options enough and getting to an age where he needs to be playing football Liverpool released him at the end of his contract after the 2023/24 campaign came to an end.

Now he has the chance to play consistently in a top division in Europe so he may have some more Messi comparisons sooner rather than later.
