Liverpool announce Tony Gallacher exit
Liverpool have today confirmed that full-back Tony Gallacher has left the club on a permanent basis, with him swapping Merseyside for Scotland as he joins Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone.
The young defender made a small handful of appearances for the Reds but never really forced his way into the squad and reckoning when it came to Premier League and Champions League football.
Indeed, that seemed as though it would not change in the near future, either, and so it perhaps makes sense that Gallacher has now been allowed to move on from the club and to try and forge himself a career elsewhere.
It's a good opportunity for him, too, with St Johnstone playing at the highest level in Scotland and the defender will get to experience playing the likes of Rangers and Celtic which will only improve him further.
The Reds confirmed the news on their official channels earlier on Tuesday:
Anfield Watch Verdict
It's an opportunity for Gallacher to really start forging his own path and making a career for himself so you'd never begrudge him that whatsoever.
It was becoming clear that his future perhaps lied away from Liverpool and so that has proven with this move away from Merseyside.
It's an opportunity now for him to feature at a good level up in Scotland and it could really be the making of him as a footballer.
He'll get the chance to come up against some top professionals and big clubs and that is something that could really help him develop.
