Liverpool now considering deal for African star

This summer, it felt like Liverpool were being linked with a new player almost every day.

The Anfield outfit had a lot of changes that needed to be made to their ranks and, while some were made, it still feels like they're a bit behind their title rivals.

For example, both Manchester City and Chelsea spent an absolute fortune on new players this summer and, while Liverpool may have splashed around £123 million on Bradley Barcola, his arrival was nothing in comparison.

Obviously, thanks to Barcola's arrival, on paper, Liverpool now have one of the best attacks in the world.

However, since Mohamed Salah is gone and the Reds still haven't replaced him with a natural right-winger, there's still a high chance that another attacker could be brought in over the next year or so.

So, the fact that the Reds are keeping their door open to new arrivals makes a lot of sense.

Liverpool could try and make another move for Ismaila Sarr in January

Throughout the summer, Liverpool's main goal seemed to be strengthening their attack.

Many different attackers were linked but, in the end, only two were signed.

Most people thought that an entire rebuild of Liverpool's attack was on the cards but, since they don't have an endless bucket of money to spend, that was far from the case.

So, even though the Reds' main focus was on improving their forward line, it now seems like their January transfer window could also be focused on bringing another attacker or two in.

That is, if a report from Football Insider is to be believed.

"Liverpool will consider making another move to sign Ismaila Sarr in January after failing to agree a deal before the summer deadline, sources have told Football Insider," they shared.

"Sarr was a target for the Reds throughout the transfer window after impressing for Crystal Palace over the last few seasons.

"Andoni Iraola wanted to add quality and depth to his attacking ranks following Mo Salah's departure.

"Bradley Barcola arrived in a move worth £120million before the deadline, and they remained hot on the trail of Sarr but failed to get a deal done.

"Sarr still wants to join Liverpool and he will stay on their radar in the months to come."

Obviously, Sarr has plenty of Premier League experience and, since that's one of the main things that Liverpool are missing at the moment, a move for the Senegal international makes a lot of sense.

But, since he's 28 years old and has never scored more than nine Premier League goals in a season before, the £70 million + that Crystal Palace were demanding for him this summer felt rather steep.

That is, especially when someone such as Yankuba Minteh was going to cost the Reds the same amount.

However, if Liverpool really do want to sign the winger and do end up trying to get a deal for him over the line in summer, they must ensure that they get value for their money.

A fee around £50 million would be much more reasonable but, because of how big Liverpool are as a club and how desperately they need a right-winger, any attacker that they try and sign is going to be extortionately priced.

So, the best thing for them to do is just to see how things pan out and then re-evaluate in January, otherwise, they could end up making a deal that they end up regretting in six months and, since the Reds have already spent so much money over the last couple of transfer windows, that would be far from ideal.
