Liverpool’s defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Saturday was one to forget and it was made even worse by Bruno Fernandes' comments.

A day where a win seemed routine at Anfield quickly turned into a nightmare as Arne Slot’s men struggled to create anything meaningful against the Midlands club.

The Reds poor showing was punished by Forest, who nicked a win thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi’s wonder strike.

To make matters worse, fans and players of opposition teams were quick to rub salt into the wounds, with one Manchester United player relishing Liverpool’s demise.

Bruno Fernandes trolls Liverpool fans

Forest’s goal was preventable. The Reds lost the ball quite high up the pitch before Nuno Espirito Santo’s men pounced.

Anthony Elanga, formerly of United, picked up the ball, played it to Hudson-Odoi who thumped it past Allison. Liverpool had no reply and picked up their first loss of the season.

Elanga, who came off the bench in the 61st minute, caused serious problems for the players. The team couldn’t deal with his pace and skill, as he picked up the assist for the game's only goal.

The Forest winger then took to Instagram after the game, posting a picture of himself in the Liverpool tunnel pre-match.

Underneath the post, however, Bruno Fernandes left a comment which will infuriate Reds supporters.

The United midfielder wrote, “That assist man” along with the applause emoji, showing his admiration for his ex-colleague’s contribution.

United legend Gary Neville couldn’t help also having a pop at Liverpool. On his Instagram story, he posted a video saying, “Well… what a football weekend! United win, Salford win and the big one Liverpool lose! Oh dear beautiful weekend!”

A bad day for Liverpool was compounded by this mockery. Slot’s group will be hoping to bounce back against AC Milan this Tuesday.
