Liverpool Next Manager: 'Disgruntled' Reds-linked boss tipped for move

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has been tipped to change clubs this summer, amid links to Liverpool.

The 44-year-old is among the frontrunners to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool this summer, along with the likes of Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim.

While it is the Bayer Leverkusen boss who is currently the strong favourite for the Anfield hotseat, De Zerbi is among the other contenders with the shortest odds, having impressed in his stint at Brighton.

The Italian's attack-minded, possession based football has won him plenty of admirers in England since taking over at the Seagulls in 2022, while he is also well regarded for the work he did at Sassuolo in his homeland.

Perhaps a stronger candidate for a top-level managerial post last season, De Zerbi's stock has fallen a little in recent months, with Brighton stagnating slightly following the exits of key players Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.

However, the former Shakhtar boss still has plenty of admirers, with journalist Julien Laurens reporting that he won't be short of options in the summer and could be ripe for a move.

He said on TNT Sports: “I think people at the club feel he’s a little bit disgruntled and he might not be there next season.

“With all the top clubs in Europe looking for a manager in the summer – from Napoli, to Bayern, to Liverpool, to Barcelona – not that he will go to Liverpool, but maybe Manchester United, maybe Juve, maybe Milan. There’s a lot of top, top clubs.

“If I was a Brighton fan, I would be a little bit worried.”

De Zerbi's Brighton have been in mixed form of late.

The Seagulls suffered three defeats on the spin, with disappointing losses to Wolves and Roma in the FA Cup and Europa League, as well as a 3-0 reverse to Fulham in the Premier League.

However, they have since bounced back to beat Nottingham Forest and Roma at home, though they still exited the Europa League last 16 on aggregate.
