Virgil van Dijk makes one FUTURE PROMISE after Liverpool
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has shared insights into what the future might hold for his career.
Van Dijk’s immediate focus remains on Liverpool, with his current contract keeping him at Anfield until 2025. However, the Dutchman has revealed in recent weeks that talks are underway to possibly extend his stay on Merseyside.
The 33-year-old defender, has been a prominent figure Liverpool’s backline since his arrival from Southampton in 2018 and has shown no signs of slowing down, aiming to continue playing at the top level for several more seasons.
Van Dijk's situation is well-known – Liverpool could lose their captain at the end of this season, with clubs able to approach him from January 1st.

Arne Slot and Sporting Director Richard Hughes will be hoping to convince him to renew his contract, but fans are fearful that he could be making a big move away from the club, especially considering both Slot and Van Dijk have been coy as to how negotiations are going.
However, Van Dijk has made clear there is one thing he won't be doing after playing for the Reds.
Van Dijk rules out one option post-Liverpool
In a recent interview with former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, the Liverpool captain offered an insight as to what he might do when he decides to hang up his boots.
While he respects the role of a pundit, he isn't convinced that's what his future holds.
"I don't think I will be a pundit because I would just be a bit like Ian Wright, a bit more respectful, a bit more just showing more love" said Van Dijk. "I know as a pundit sometimes you have to be a bit more controversial, you have to be hard on certain things otherwise it can be boring.
"I said no [to punditry] but that's also because coming to this hectic, busy, on-it life that my family is sacrificing a lot, my wife and my kids, to then have a year off or two years off and then going back into it. I don't think I see it happening, but never say never."
VVD wants to give back
While the defender insists his retirement is a long way off, he has some idea what he wants to do when the time comes.
He said: "I really feel like I definitely will give something back to football. I love working and seeing younger players out there. I like going, for example, to the Liverpool Academy to watch the under 11, 12, 13.
"The other day I watched the little tournament on the 16s, if I'm correct, and just a couple of games, but also because of the joy, it's just nice to see. "The thing is, when I was younger, I was eight or nine, and we had a training session. The first-team players from my team back then, Willem II, two or three players came and trained with us, and I'll never forget that.
"I know what kind of impact it makes to the younger boys and the younger generation, but what they give to me as well, seeing them happy and playing with pure joy and nothing in their mind or thinking, oh, yeah, anything, that's something that brings a lot to me as well.
"Going back to the question, I would love to stay in football in the future. But at this time, I don't know which kind of role, and it's too far away to think about it."
