Virgil van Dijk's contract situation has been a shadow hanging over Liverpool's season, with the club captain currently set to leave Anfield at the end of the campaign.
Van Dijk, 33, has been at Anfield since 2018, earning top honours in the Champions League, the Premier League, the Club World Cup and other competitions.
The fact his contract situation has been left to get to this point has been a massive worry for Liverpool fans, and a cause for concern as Arne Slot builds the next era.

However, Van Dijk has dropped a massive update on his contract situation that will leave fans finally feeling positive.
New contract talks confirmed
Van Dijk has now confirmed that “discussions are ongoing” over a new contract to keep him at Anfield.
The Netherlands international defender’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but sporting director Richard Hughes is leading negotiations with the player’s agent over an extension.
“I can say obviously discussions are ongoing, but I don’t know, we will see what happens in the future,” Van Dijk said.
“My full focus is on Liverpool, wanting to win games that are ahead of me and nothing else. What the future will bring I have no idea at the moment. I can only tell you that discussions have been started and we will see.”
