Liverpool FC news recap - Salah MEETS Slot and transfer TWIST
Here’s our Liverpool news recap for Wednesday 10th July with updates on Mohamed Salah, Sepp van den Berg, Caoimhin Kelleher and Rio Ngumoha.
Door closed for Kelleher
Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is keen to leave the club this summer but there's news of a deal that affects one potential avenue.
Interest in the Republic international has been high with Celtic among the reported front-runners for his signature as the reigning champions of Scotland seek a replacement for the recently retired Joe Hart.
Furthermore, there was reported interest from Nottingham Forest which would have afforded the 25-year-old the opportunity to prove he can be a number one option for a Premier League club.
However, it would appear a move to the City Ground is off the table given they've announced the signing of Carlos Miguel from Brazilian outfit Corinthians.

FSG purchase
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are in talks to purchase French club Bordeaux, it has been confirmed.
The six-time Ligue 1 champions, now coached by former Liverpool midfielder Albert Riera, are experiencing an unprecedented financial crisis having been provisionally relegated to the third tier of French football.
The DNCG - French football’s financial regulator - held a meeting on Tuesday with club officials which was reportedly also attended by FSG and it has since been revealed that FSG intend to complete a purchase of the club as soon as possible.
The two parties have been given two weeks to complete the takeover, which would see the team reinstated in the second tier.

Liverpool to sign wonderkid
Liverpool are expected to complete the signing of Chelsea wonderkid Rio Ngumoha this summer with the 15-year-old set to sign a record-breaking scholar’s contract at Anfield.
Ngumoha, who turns 16 later this month, is regarded as one of the biggest talents within the Chelsea youth ranks and his departure is understood to have left the London side furious.
However, according to Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail, Liverpool’s Carabao Cup victory last season which came at the Blues' expense at Wembley is said to have played a major role in Ngumoha's decision as he is "motivated by the pathway and opportunities on offer" with the Merseyside giants.
Furthermore with Chelsea splashing out a combined fee of around £70m for Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez - who will arrive at the club next summer - those deals left Ngumoha looking elsewhere for his chances.

Van den Berg chance
Sepp van den Berg will be given a chance to impress on Liverpool's upcoming pre-season tour of the United States.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful 2023/24 season on loan at Mainz, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young defenders in the Bundesliga and clearly impressed many within the club enough to earn a permanent transfer.
And amid a £20million price-tag being placed on his head, the expectation has been that van den Berg will leave at some point during the summer window. However, he remains a Liverpool player to date and it might be a while until he's allowed to depart.
In fact, he may end up staying at Liverpool for the 2024/25 campaign as it's been revealed that the defender has impressed new head coach Arne Slot in training and is expected to fly with the first-team squad to the United States as part of their pre-season programme which begins on July 26 against Real Betis in Pittsburgh.

Salah meets Slot
Speaking of pre-season training, there was a first sighting of Mohamed Salah at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday morning.
The 32-year-old has been at the centre of much transfer speculation in recent months as he's now entered the final year of his contract at Anfield meaning there is a risk he could leave for nothing next summer.
However, just days after new Liverpool sporting director, Richard Hughes - dropped the clearest hint yet that the Reds' No.11 will not be sold under any circumstances this summer, the forward returned to training and the club's photographer was there to capture an embrace with head coach Arne Slot.
