Liverpool’s youth movement is a significant part of the club’s strategy going forward with head coach Arne Slot encouraging development.

Slot chose to keep Tyler Morton and Trey Nyoni at the club as he integrates them further into first-team matchday squads.

Left-back Luke Chambers had also been relishing his time on loan at League One side Wigan Athletic, but that spell has unfortunately been cut short.

Wigan manager Shaun Maloney has confirmed that Chambers has sustained a back injury and will return to Liverpool for treatment.

Liverpool decided not to hire Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP this year. His response has been remarkable.

There was a point earlier in 2024 where Ruben Amorim looked nailed on to be the next Liverpool boss. Someone had to replace Jurgen Klopp and all signs pointed to the Sporting CP manager.

After all, Amorim was darting towards a second Primeira Liga title - and he’d eventually get it. His style of football ticked all the right boxes and there was genuine enthusiasm.

Stood in goal behind the defensive giants of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, you will often find Alisson Becker.

Having performed at his impenetrable best for several years now, Alisson is always at hand to save the day, whenever the Reds find themselves in trouble.

But recent times have seen the Brazilian increasingly impacted with injuries and Liverpool's ever-present defensive block - widely considered to be the best goalkeeper in the world - is often found on the sidelines.

Despite not playing quite as much football as he might have liked, Cody Gakpo has started the season well.

In four starts across the Premier League, the Champions League and the EFL Cup, he has recorded two goals and two assists.

As such, Luis Diaz's grip on the left-wing position is not quite as firm as he'd like it to be, with Arne Slot able to mix things around should he want to.

And in addition to his positive start to this campaign, he has been rewarded with recognition from the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.

Under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot's reign, Luis Diaz is in a fine vein of form.

Scoring five goals and making one assist in his eight Premier League starts this season, the Colombian is turning heads after delivering mixed returns for the club in his maiden full campaign.

Having joined the club in 2022 for £34million, Diaz was a transfer of opportunity for Liverpool's sporting directors.

As revealed by Semana ahead of the release of his new book Azul ate ao fim, Porto's former director Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, said: "Two days before the deadline set by UEFA, we were faced with a dilemma: either we would sell a player or we would not play in European competitions.

Debts the club had to incur were the result of Sergio Conceicao (Porto manager at the time) pressuring the club to purchase two players - Jose [Ze] Luis and [Shoya] Nakajima."

The mother of Liverpool’s World Cup-winning midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has vowed that truth and justice will prevail in a legal battle involving her son and his ex-girlfriend.

It’s been almost two years since Alexis broke up with old flame Cami Mayan. The playmaker moved on, now dating Ailén Cova.

Mayan, for her part, has since returned to Argentina from the pair’s shared home in Brighton, where Alexis was a player before his £35 million move to Liverpool in summer 2023.

However, a legal controversy has emerged over the past few months with Mayan seeking compensation for the years lived together with Mac Allister following their split.
