Liverpool starting XI vs Bologna - Arne Slot makes KEY decision over Nunez and Jota

Liverpool take on Bologna in their first home game of this season's UEFA Champions League as they look to continue their unbeaten start in the competition.

The Reds will field an almost unchanged side from their weekend victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Arne Slot only making one change to the starting XI.

Alisson starts in goal with his usual back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson.

In front of them Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai make up the midfield.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz retain their places in the front line but they will be joined by Darwin Nunez, in what is only his second start under Slot.

Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott miss out due to injury but Diogo Jota is fit enough for the bench despite earlier worries he may miss the match entirely.

Darwin Nunez will once again be looking to impress his new head coach after scoring a wonderful goal in his first start for the Dutchman. The 25-year-old has struggled to re-establish himself in Liverpool's starting XI following the appointment of Slot and Diogo Jota has been preferred through the middle in most games.

Many supporters felt as though Cody Gakpo should start this game over Luis Diaz but the Dutchman has looked impressive when coming off the bench this season and could still have a big influence on the match.

Liverpool squad in full:

Starting XI: Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mo Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez.

Bench: Jaros, Kelleher, Gomez, Endo, Jones, Gakpo, Jota, Tsimikas, Quansah, Morton, Bradley, Nyoni
