Liverpool's owners have held a meeting that could lead to them partnering up with one of the world's biggest streaming services.

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) were seen meeting with Netflix, amid reports that they had signed a collaboration agreement, as they seek to expand their influence into the ever-growing world of digital entertainment.

Earlier this year, Netflix announced that it will follow an MLB team over the course of the 2024 season, documenting FSG's Boston Red Sox as they compete across ups and downs in one of the most rabid sports environments in the league.

Linda Pizzuti confirms news

John Henry's wife Linda Pizzuti confirmed the meeting with Netflix, writing on Instagram: "Netflix X FSG, so many exciting projects..."

Any partnership will likely focus on producing sports documentaries, docuseries and behind-the-scenes content, providing unprecedented access to the inner workings of some of the world's most successful sports teams. By aligning with Netflix, FSG can tap into the streaming platform’s vast global network, ensuring that Liverpool, the Red Sox and other FSG properties gain even more visibility across the world.

Netflix has a track record in increasing the popularity of sports in recent years. Its Drive to Survive series that follows Formula 1 has been credited with interest in the sport increasing significantly - especially in America.

FSG approved the documentary Being: Liverpool in 2012 which captured the team during the pre-season period of Brendan Rodgers' first season as manager. Since then teams such as Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Wrexham have all followed suit.

Earlier this year, a fly-on-the-wall documentary was set in motion to follow Jurgen Klopp's farewell. Klopp originally declined the opportunity back in 2018, but was said to be open to the idea.

However, the series of films is yet to be commissioned by any streaming service. Could this new partnership lead to it finally being aired on Netflix, or could something else be in the works?
