Liverpool and Man United's rivalry is as big as it gets, with both clubs having battled at the top of the English league pyramid at various points over the last century.

A strange quirk to the story is that it's rare that both teams are at the peak of their powers at the same time. Liverpool were the best team in England throughout the 70s and 80s, when United were unable to win a league title, while United under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 90s and 00s dominated most of English football as Liverpool struggled.

That pendulum swung back in Liverpool's direction after Ferguson left United and Liverpool brought in Jurgen Klopp as manager, and has continued into Arne Slot's time in charge, with Liverpool already 13 points ahead of their rivals after just 11 Premier League games.

Now, Liverpool look like they could be about to add another feather to their cap as a new FSG deal will bring a major piece of United history closer to Merseyside.

FSG have a long-standing business partnership with NBA superstar LeBron James, and are investors in his entertainment company, Springfield.

According to Bloomberg, James' company are who in negotiations over a merger with Fulwell 73, a British film, TV and music company. The two companies have been talking for months, and negotiations are ongoing.

Fulwell 73 have a range of notable films and shows in their repertoire, including The Kardashians, The Late Late Show With James Corden, and, interestingly, Man United documentary The Class of '92 - meaning FSG could soon own the documentary.

In their capacity as investors, FSG will undoubtedly have a say over any deals that are done Reds fans will delight in the fact that a successful merger would mean Liverpool's owners would obtain the rights to a huge piece of United's history.

What is The Class of '92?

The Class of '92 is one of the most famous documentaries made about Manchester United during Ferguson's 27 years in charge of the club.

It follows the lives and stories of a number of former United players, including Gary Neville, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville.

The documentary follows the path those six players took together to rise to the top of English football, coming through United's youth system to win the FA Youth Cup in 1992 and being a huge part of Ferguson's early success, and culminating in the Champions League win in 1999.

Using interviews and archive footage of each player, the documentary was praised upon its release in 2013 for pulling back the curtain on such an important time in United's history.

Liverpool and LeBron James' business partnership

James is a former Reds shareholder and also owns a 1% stake in the current ownership of FSG.

Most recently the club partnered with the NBA legend on their LFC x LeBron range of clothes.

That deal has come under threat in recent weeks as the Reds announced their switch to a lucrative kit deal with Adidas ahead of the 2025/26 season. James is a Nike athlete, so it is assumed that the range will have to be discontinued once Nike are no longer Liverpool’s supplier.

That move may have caused some concern that James and FSG’s business partnership was cooling, but this new development shows that both parties are moving forward regardless.
