A Liverpool fan has trolled Manchester United supporters at Old Trafford just before kick-off in a bizarre way outside of the ground.

It was March 2023 when Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United travelled to Anfield to take on a Liverpool team that sat seventh in the Premier League. Ten Hag’s team were third in the league but the Reds would go on to prove that league position means nothing in this fixture.

Liverpool only took the lead in the 43rd minute and went into the break 1-0 but the Red Devils completely capitulated in the second half, shipping six goals and producing one of the most memorable Anfield scorelines ever. Liverpool 7-0 Manchester United.

Now a Liverpool fan has decided to taunt the Old Trafford faithful by remind them of their heaviest defeat under Erik ten Hag, releasing balloons showing the 7-0 scoreline outside of Manchester United’s stadium.

Ten Hag vs Slot

This is the first time the two managers will meet in a competitive match in England, having already faced each other a number of times at previous clubs.

Liverpool have started the season perfectly with two victories and two clean sheets but Manchester United are a completely different kettle of fish.

Ten Hag’s Manchester United have had a mixed start to this season, conceding yet another late goal to lose their previous match against Brighton.

The 7-0

All but one of Liverpool's four goal scorers in the 7-0 victory are still in Arne Slot’s squad, with Roberto Firmino having left the club at the end of that season.

Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez all scored two in that fixture and will be looking to solidify themselves in Slot’s plans for the rest of this season.

Liverpool finished fifth in the 2022/23 season despite the thrashing of their fiercest rivals and Slot will be hoping to secure a better finish in his maiden Premier League season.
