Liverpool teammates in extraordinary full-timeSHOWDOWN as tempers flare
International breaks are often bemoaned by fans for a lack of exciting football, with drab games featuring tired players just passing the time until they return to club action where the ‘real’ football happens.
That’s not the case in South America.

International games in South America often have the potential to spark into something, as players fight for every ball in hostile atmospheres.
Darwin Nunez is no stranger to these kinds of situations. During this summer’s Copa America, the Liverpool striker was handed a five match ban for his role in a melee with Colombian fans after the final whistle.
Moments after Uruguay's semi-final defeat, multiple Uruguay players - including Nunez - went into the stands to confront Colombian fans who had begun brawling in close proximity to the players' families. Nunez was seen fighting with fans and appeared to throw a chair into the stands as well.
That was the last time the two sides faced off, until this week, when controversy reared its head at the full time whistle once again.
Colombia v Uruguay controversy
A game that ended 3-2 in Uruguay’s favour was full of incidents and drama right up to the final whistle.
Colombia took the lead in the first half before Uruguay replied with two goals of their own in the second half. A total of 32 fouls across the 90+ minutes shows how hard each side fought for the win.
But it wasn’t until second half injury time that the game truly took off. Colombia levelled the score with a goal from substitute Andres Gomez six minutes into injury time. His strike was upheld by VAR after a lengthy review and it looked like Diaz and his teammates had salvaged a draw.
That was until a few minutes later, when Man United’s Manuel Ugarte stole the win with a goal eleven minutes into injury time, sparking huge celebrations from the home crowd.
The final whistle blew a few moments later and players from both sides made their feelings clear in an argument that involved both Nunez and Diaz.
The Liverpool duo are best friends when on Merseyside, according to BOLAVIP, and were seen "exchanging words" after full time, when frustration boiled over.
Diaz will have been disappointed with his performance for Colombia, having had a brilliant start to the season when in a Liverpool jersey. However, he has come under some criticism in his home country with Redmas reporting that Colombian fans think the shirt "is too heavy" for him.
Slot will be hoping that the dramatic conclusion to the game is forgotten about when the pair return to Liverpool training next week.
