Now, after wins against Ipswich Town and Brentford, Arne Slot has been nominated for the August manager of the month award.

Slot is one of four nominees and is up against Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler in a fan vote.

Both Guardiola and Arteta are experienced Premier League managers, but Slot and Hurzeler have been nominated after their first month managing in English football.

Slot’s impressive start

Liverpool have started the season perfectly under their new head coach, winning nine points from the available nine and also keeping three consecutive clean sheets.

The Reds are joint top of the Premier League with Manchester City and are the only team in the competition yet to concede a goal.

Although Liverpool’s biggest win of the season, a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, came at the very start of September, fans who are voting for the manager of the month will be hard pressed not to take this into account.

Slot became the first Liverpool boss to win their debut Premier League game with the club since Gerard Houllier in 1998 and also the first Reds boss to win their first game at Old Trafford since George Kay in 1936.

Slot for Manager of the Month

Supporters can vote for Slot to be named the August Manager of the Month on the Premier League website and the vote closes on Monday 9 September.

Last season, Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou became the first manager ever to win the award in all of his first three months in the Premier League and Slot will be eying this record up if he wins the August award.

Liverpool have started the season in a very impressive manner under Slot and will look to continue that good form after the international break when they take on Nottingham Forest at Anfield on 14 September.
